Since the Connecticut shooting, there have been several right-wing and Christian pundits in the news claiming that the slaughter occurred because of political and social reasons (prayer in school, gay marriage, etc.) What theyare saying, in effect, is that the god they pray to - the one they want to force our children to pray to and worship - has temper tantrums and kills innocent children when he doesn't like the way we handle political or social matters. How can anyone 1) defend this and 2) want to worship a god that slaughters children because he is angry that people exercise the free will he supposedly gave them? Are these people sure they are actually worshipping the right being? It certainly sounds to me like they've been worshipping the being called "Satan" in the bible, instead. What do people find "loving" and "peaceful" about a god that slaughters 6 year olds because he doesn't approve of someone else's wedding? Why pray to a god who becomes murderous when parents refuse to allow strangers to usurp their authority by teaching their kids about spiritual matters?
Next time someone wants to talk about radical Islam and the violence in the Koran, please remember that prominent Christian preachers admit that their own god slaughters innocent children for political reasons. I know I won't forget it.
