This week, Mitt Romney accused President Obama of wanting to remove God from our currency, despite the fact that the president has never mentioned any such plans. Psychologists say that it is common for people to accuse others of what they do or want to do themselves; this is called "projection." In that case, is Romney's unfounded accusation against President Obama a clear case of projection? Does Mitt Romney in fact have plans to remove the word God from our currency? Will he replace it with the name of his Mormom god, Elohim? Will he replace the phrase "under God" in the pledge of allegiance with the phrase "under Elohim and his many wives", forcing schoolchildren to pledge allegiance to the Mormon god? Will he replace all of the Gideon bibles in hotel rooms with copies the Book of Mormon? Will he institute Mormon law, outlawing all alcohol and caffeinated beverages and requiring long sleeves, long pants, and 1920s style bathing suits for both men and women? Finally, will all Americans be forced to wear temple garments, which are a special type of undergarment?
These are serious questions. You see, these things are every bit as likely to happen as what Mitt Romney is accusing President Obama of. Every bit as likely.
