Michael Steele, the first African American Chairman of the Republican National Committee, should announce his immediate resignation. Since Steele is such a fierce defender of the United States Constitution as originally written, he cannot possibly hold public office. The Three-Fifths Compromise, which was part of the original text of the Constitution (as opposed to the Thirteenth Amendment, which Steels apparently feels should never have been written), states that non-white, non-Indian persons are to be counted as only three-fifths of a person; as such, they were not granted the right to vote. Naturally, a person that cannot vote cannot legally hold public office.
I know that Steele, who is such a proud, patriotic, Constitution-loving American, and feels it was an unflawed document, cannot in good conscience go against it. I wonder how he is going to break the news about the rescindment of the Thirteenth Amendment to the nation's African-Americans.
